The Schoolroom....

We homeschool all over the house really.... but this is technically our schoolroom. It's the place where a lot of the work gets done... and also the place where we do all our crafts.

Come take a peek behind the door.

This is our huge whiteboard that cost us probably less than $50. It's actually white plywood like stuff that we got at Lowe's or Home Depot and then The King Fish framed it out with some MDF. (Medium Density Fiberboard). You have to use the Dry Erase Cleaner to get it clean...but it works well! I love my Abeka Cursive alphabet cards that make a beautiful border on the wall above it.

The table I bought for the boys. It's laminate, so it's easy to clean. It's also adjustable in height for when they get taller. The chairs... oh my goodness they were awful! I got them for $10 at a thrift shop and they were in such disrepair! Seriously. They needed Kilz paint plus a coat of creamy white paint and the seats needed to be completely re-done. I chose a back to school fabric that I found at Walmart.

This is the storage closet that I found at Ikea. I actually had one of these years ago up north, but without the window panes. I knew I wanted the same storage from Ikea, and I found this style. It was pricey, but worth it. It suits the room well don't you think?

Take a peek inside... this is our main craft cabinet.

These neat little container gadgets I got at Ikea a few years ago. They are compartmentalized and you can set them up in anyway you need. They hold our glue, crayons, markers, colored pencils, googly eyes, cotton ball puffs, styrofoam stickers, feathers etc. They are awesome!! If you have an Ikea near you I highly recommend it for finding neat gadgets like these at a reasonable price.

This is my storage closet, it holds all the notebooks, and all my manipulatives that I need for schooling. Some other things I store there are Math U See blocks, Science Kits, Flashcards, pencils, scissors, index cards, supplies etc.

The middle closet holds the majority of my scrapbooking stuff (not pictured), and the lower shelves hold some of our games and Leap Pad stuff. The Leappad keeps Small Fry busy for a while and the headphones keep the room quiet.

This is our main bookshelf of all the boys reading books and reading curriculum books. They are from the last 2 years or so. The early readers I moved up to our upstairs playroom/school area. I can't show a picture of that yet, because it isn't really finished and I'm quite frankly too lazy to go up and take pictures. Maybe after school tomorrow I'll add it to this post.

This bookcase is my bookcase. it's built into the wall and has all their current curriculum. It's right next to my desk and I use it all the time.
And lastly here is a photo of my desk... you'll find me here late at night blogging or reading blogs or lesson planning or just surfing the 'net.
It never looks this good. I took half the stuff off it and stuck it on the dining room table. Thankfully we don't have company coming over.
So there you go.... our schoolroom! We also have a playroom with a room right off of it that we will use for schooling, so I can keep Small Fry busy and still be available to Jabber Jaw and Tiger Shark. Not sure if I'll get photos today but check back later in the week. :-)

I love your 'school room'! We have Ikea bookcases, too, with doors on the lower half. I also love your cursive cards...where did you get them?

I've read about Ikea so many times, but sadly the closest one to me is a 3+ hour drive in a direct we rarely ever go. I've never been in one. Some day...

Anyway, thanks for sharing on the Blog Hop.

Love your school room... love that you moved stuff off your desk to take a picture. I hardly ever see the top of my desk!

Thanks for joining in on the NBTS Blog Hop!

Ahhhh... shelves with doors. I love love love that idea. While I like being able to see everything, it would be so much easier to keep tidy!

So impressed!!! I also love IKEA. We have several large pieces from them, but have never taken the time to look at the little "organization" tools. I guess I'll have to make a trip! :)

I LOVE it! No wonder you were sweating it a few weeks ago---you had much to get done. It looks FAB-U. I'm ready to come and work on my cursive (which my students will tell you really needs it)!

Seriously frustrated that we're so far from an IKEA. :-(

Good luck, teach!
