From Relaxed to Stressed in One Phone Call…

Is that really possible??  It IS when you get travel dates that are a little over a week away!  And you notice that the smoke from wildfires surrounding Moscow is still prevalent and their is a travel advisory for foreigners.  Oh Lord please help me!  Those of you AP’s (adoptive parents) know what the next week will look like for us.  With three kids and a variety of schedules just starting up for the fall, I am beyond stressed.  My head is spinning.  It’s spinning and I can’t think straight.

I am praying for an army of friends to come one day next week to help me clean and cook for the arrival of my parents so they can easily fall into our routines here at home.  Really, it’s just a few meals, and my mom is a good cook…. I just want a few back ups so in case she is too tired to think about cooking, she can grab something from the freezer.  The cleaning, now that is another story all together, and I have one friend on board to help me.  Bless her!!  Anyone else want to volunteer for a fun party?  I’ll provide some kind of lunch….

I’ve spoken to the bank, my travel agent, and our hotel.  Praise the Lord for my husband’s travel this past year, as we have enough points to stay all three trips to Russia for free.  That alone saves us so much money.  And they have started the direct flights again from Atlanta to Moscow.  Yeah!!  Those are so much more “doable” than connecting flights that make the trip so much longer.  You’re already tired from being in the air for 13 hours…. (even though my little sleeping pill from my doctor might help me).  I absolutely detest that long flight (I even dislike flying the 5 hours to California).  I guess I just get stir crazy, and my ankles swell from sitting so long.  Gosh, I’m SO looking forward to it… NOT.

The King Fish is out of town and comes back tomorrow, so I am trying to figure out how to handle our Visas.  It’s a new processing company this time.  It’s expensive either way.  Bleck.  I also have to get two documents notarized, county certified and apostilled.  I’ve had all summer to do this, but I’ve been waiting for my fingerprints to come back, and of course they haven’t.  So I’m going to handle these two documents when the King Fish is back this Monday.   Arrgggh.  I’m not even going to mention that I need to go shopping for clothes for me.  Plus the King Fish needs shoes, and by golly if that is the ONLY thing I buy, he will get them.  There’s a story behind that.  I wonder if I have it in my travel blog… let me see….nope I didn’t record that memory, though it’s one The King Fish and I both remember fondly. (I’ll share it another day when I have time- it always makes me smile).  :-)

Okay, I need to go and start putting things together in suitcases and writing out lists and lists and schedules etc. etc. etc.

Wow! Great news and yes stressful too. But I'm sure you'll get it together. Nothing like one little phone call to change everything! Keeps us on our toes.

Wow! How exciting...and stressful. I'd be happy to bring a meal by for your freezer sometime in the next few days. Just email to let me know what would be convenient time.

Yeah!!! So happy for you! I understand what you are feeling. Our dossier was sent in the last Friday of July, we got the call for 2 possible referral the next Friday, and our travel dates were for the very next Friday. Talk about spinning! Read Isaiah 40, it was a stress reliever for me.

I so wish I could be there to help you clean and get ready to leave. Since I can't, I'll do the one thing I can do - pray for all of you.

So excited for you!

Jackie, I've been so caught up for the past week in getting Casee prepared and delivered to Texas. I just got back last night. Whew! How did I miss THIS? See what several days away from my computer will do? I am so happy for you! Today is Sunday already, but please let me know what you need, whether it be cleaning or food.
