Friday Footnotes

What a fitting title to the end of a week…..   It works well with the randomness of this post.
Here are a few things on my mind for this week and the upcoming weekend.
  • I started a new healthy eating plan today.  I did this purposefully today, so that the King Fish will be here this weekend to help me out with any cooking, or mood swing (grumpiness), I may have from the sugar and starch withdrawal.  Don’t you think that was smart?  I’m not even adding my favorite creamer to my coffee… I’m drinking it black.  Now there is a sure way to quit drinking coffee.  :-)

  • I’ve also created the homepage for the Healthy Me section of the website.  So, if you get a chance check it out.  It gives a little background on my weight history, and what I hope to accomplish.  I could use all the encouragement I can get so leave a comment or shoot me an email, if you feel so inclined… and please be praying for me most of all!  I would appreciate it!

  • The King Fish is home this weekend and we have big big plans!  I’m not sure if we will be working on the garage, (as in painting it), or another HUGE project.  I know it seems like we skip from project to project… some of that is my fault and some was definitely weather related.  Let’s see what we have going on at the moment:  swing set remodel is still not complete, the garage is definitely ongoing and will be for a few more weeks (until after our yard sale), the front hall shelves need to be finished with the pretty fabric I bought, and finally, the newest project…  the tree needs to come down.  (Not a Christmas tree, a real live deciduous tree in our back yard).

  • If you are  in anyway a tree hugger then skip this part please!  Go to the next bullet point without delay.  One of our friends and neighbors recently cut down a boatload of trees in his backyard.  I was amazed at how adept he was at this!  He in essence saved himself hundreds of dollars, as now he just needs to hire a company to come and grind all the tree stumps and roots.  We have a pretty huge tree that sits between our properties.  It’s actually on our property and for 6 months out of the year when the leaves are down we can see into each other’s living rooms.  Plus our houses are fairly close so that there is no privacy when you want to sit out on your deck.  So, we all want to pull the tree down and plant several Leyland cypresses for privacy.  (It’s nice when your neighbors are in total agreement with the plans).  So our neighbor is going to help The King Fish and the boys take down the tree, without hitting the house or the deck or anything!  (I hope!!)  Since we need him to help, the garage my be on hold for the weekend, as we focus on the mammoth tree.  I’ll be sure to post pictures of the process.

  • I met with a homeschool group at our church last evening for some fellowship, and it was very refreshing.  I saw my friend Stephanie there and her precious baby Hope.  I wish we had more time to just chat together, and catch up!  She totally inspired me to learn more Scripture.   Seriously, I am amazed at how she is able to quote incredibly long passages of Scripture!  A group of women currently meets at my home every week to study the book of James.  It has been the sweetest study.  Often we only get through 1 or 2 verses because we are cross referencing everywhere and pulling the original meaning of words from the Greek.  It’s been awesome!  It’s been about 10 weeks or so, and we just finished James Chapter 1.  So, I decided that I would memorize James Chapter One, and every chapter there after until the entire book of James could be recited from memory.  I just started last night, and I have 1/3 or Chapter One under my belt.  I love how this book has come to life with God’s truth, and I am excited to take what I now understand and commit it to memory.
I guess that’s all for now.  That was totally random, and hardly like a footnote!  But they’re certainly bullet points of what is on my mind right now.
I hope you have a great weekend whatever your plans!

I'm with you on the healthy living changes! I love the Livestrong website. I'll have to bookmark that one. I think you've chosen a great season to begin healthy changes. The weather is beautiful, the grill can come out of hiding, and the gardens are getting ready to spring forth their bounty! Now, if I can just be rid of this Easter chocolate...
